BMDA Cinq à sept: Küf Knotz and Christine Elise, Noah Derksen

OMIC is partnering with the ByWard Market District Authority (BMDA) to program free live music for the launch of their summer concert series in Ottawa’s ByWard Market District. Taking place every Thursday from 5 PM - 7 PM in the George St Plaza from June 6th through to Oct 10th, these performances will showcase incredible talent in the city. These shows provide paid opportunities to emerging and established artists from and touring through the National Capital Region. The 19-week-long series will be coordinated by OMIC and hosted by Ottawa recording artist Tara Shannon, as well as other special guests.

Küf Knotz & Christine Elise 

Named Philadelphia Magazine Best Rapper of 2022 and 1 of 10 New Jersey Artists to watch, Küf Knotz (Producer/MC) and Christine Elise (Harpist/Vocalist) have brought their unique blend of hip-hop, soul and classical traditions to various communities. The unlikely pair connected and built a similar bond to creating positive, forward thinking music fusing hip-hop with the boom bap era and lo-fi inspired beats supported by the harp. Their performance takes you on an era fusing, genre bending journey. And, you can dance to it. The duo has opened for Wyclef Jean, Yellowman, Rising Appalachia, Slick Rick, Say She She, Afroman, Wax Tailor (US Tour Support), Liniker, G-Love, Talib Kweli, Ozomatli, Raging Fyah, Eubanks & Evans Experience, Digable Planets and have been featured on NPR Music and WHYY.

Noah Derksen

Canadian Folk Music’s 2021 Emerging Artist of the Year, Noah Derksen is quickly becoming known as a songwriter’s songwriter. Hailing from the heart of the Canadian Prairies, Noah has spent years honing his craft up, down, and across North America and Europe. With a rich and soulful voice, Noah weaves poetry that sounds instantly familiar on first listen. He currently resides in the West Broadway neighbourhood of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
