City Sounds Live is a travelling music festival, presented in partnership with BIAs and co-curators, in various neighbourhoods around the city of Ottawa. Created in 2021 thanks to funding from the City of Ottawa’s Economic Development Department, City Sounds Live promotes diverse local emerging artists and encourages economic growth. The concerts aim to provide residents and visitors of Ottawa with free, family-friendly, and inclusive outdoor live music experiences that foster community involvement, social cohesion, and increased spending in the surrounding areas.

Tennyson King

The international touring act, Tennyson King, is rapidly gathering fans all over the world. Born in Hong Kong, raised in Canada, this nomadic musician brings a jovial personality to the stage.  He often appears solo in great halls to small intimate theatres stunning the crowd with stories of adventure and travels while strumming electrifying guitar sounds paired with silky vocal lines. Bring in the band on the big festival stage, they create a huge sound surely to get everyone moving. Rock and roll infused with earthy roots and blues subtly laced in psychedelic ear candy.

Ochidae 

Orchidae is the avant and baroque pop project of Yolande Laroche, a queer franco Canadian Taiwanese artist based in Gatineau, Quebec. Soft, hypnotic melodies intertwine with minimal yet meaningful arrangements and at-times psychedelic orchestration. The music reflects her hyphenated identity and themes of alienation. She is set to release her debut album True Beginning in spring 2025 via Birthday Cake records. Yolande is also a core member of art rock band Pony Girl and sound art trio KAY-fayb. Catch her next performance at Debaser’s event Pique on September 28th in the courtyard at Club SAW in Ottawa.
