Songs from the Shed: Cathy Xia, Yaling Music

Description

A collaboration between the Sparks Street BIA and the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (OMIC) is bringing local music to The Shed on Sparks St all summer long! The lunchtime concert series, Songs from the Shed, will takes place from 12pm-1:30pm. Music lovers from the Ottawa region are invited to come enjoy lunch outdoors with a variety of captivating singer-songwriters in solo or duo formations. The project will be run by Ottawa’s own Jessy Lindsay, bilingual singer-songwriter and program coordinator.

Cathy Xia 

Cathy is an award wining GuZheng and GuQin artist, performer and instructor, a member of China National Orchestra Society, China GuQin Art Association. She won and led her students won many national and regional competitions and prestigious awards in China, now is settled in the beautiful Ottawa west and opened LanLing GuZheng Arts Center for people who love this beautiful Chinese traditional musical instrument. She is dedicated to bring GuZheng arts to all Canadians.

Yaling Music  

Yaling is a singer-songwriter who graduated from Carleton University. Her journey began as a Chinese folk singer, and has expanded to genres like mellow pop, jazz, and music theatre. She loves to blend her Chinese styles into her singing. This will be her first performance since having her first baby.
