Driven by a passion for research-led community-minded business & economic development, Nik Ives-Allison joined OMIC as General Manager in May 2017 coming on just as work started on the Ottawa Music Strategy. Nik’s a data nerd, keen to find new ways to help artists and music business understand themselves and their world through the world of numbers and networks, something picked up during the course of her PhD studies at the University of St Andrews. She’s a former Web Summit Future Global Leader (2014), Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year (2009) and - most importantly, for her at least, Volunteer of the Year with the Sandy How Homework Project in Belfast, Northern Ireland (2013).
On Team OMIC, Nik’s most likely to be found obsessing over a budget, designing graphics, working on the curriculum for the From Emerging to Export program, or annoying the rest of the team with her penchant for making and tossing paper balls around the office.

Martyna has also been a gallery assistant at the Maison des artistes francophones as well as assistant to the curator for the Nuit Blanche Winnipeg festival.
On Team OMIC, Martyna’s most likely to be found talking members through release plans, grant opportunities or social media strategy, pulling together programs and events like From Emerging to Export or the LOVE LOCAL STAGE on Sparks, or helpfully teaching Nik Canadian grammar in order to avoid future lawsuits against the organization.

Laura is the newest member of the staff team here at OMIC. Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Laura made the move to Ottawa in 2015 to study at Carleton University, and has called the city home ever since. Combining her passion for the arts with her intrigue for business, Laura received her Honours Bachelor’s degree in both Music and Communications & Media Studies in 2019. Being involved in the Ottawa music community is an integral part of Laura’s everyday life, as she hosts a weekly music showcase on CKCU FM and fronts indie band Alexis Neon. As a fresh graduate and local musician, Laura is excited to participate in Ottawa’s music industry in a new way.
On Team OMIC, Laura’s most likely to be found drafting the newsletter, writing news posts for the website or reminding Nik & Martyna that if they don’t leave right now they’re going to be late for their next meetings.
