Ottawa Music Strategy Phase II in Motion
This week, the Finance and Economic Development Committee formally expressed its support for key phase two Ottawa Music Strategy recommendations, including the Ottawa Music Development Fund (OMDF) and Ottawa-Gatineau Music Awards. Both programs will be administered by OMIC as part of our commitment to working with the City to support the official music strategy. The OMDF, with a total value of $25,000 will distribute $21,750 to local musicians, music non-profits and grassroots organizations so that they can test out ideas to address the key priorities identified by the music community through the strategy’s extensive consultation process and ongoing sector-based discussions. The Fund, along with open applications, will be formally launched mid-July. More details about the first Ottawa-Gatineau Music Awards, which will take the form of a digital celebration of Ottawa music, will be announced in the fall.
